DESCRIPTION

Appendicitis occurs when appendix become inflamed and filled with pus. Appendicitis is an inflammation of the appendix, a finger-shaped pouch that projects from your colon on the lower right side of your abdomen. Appendicitis causes pain in your lower right abdomen.

Symptoms –

Sudden pain

Nausea and vomiting

Loss of appetite

Low grade fever

Constipation or diarrhea

Abdominal bloating

Flatulence

Risk factors –

Affects teens and people in their 20s

Common in males

Family history

Diagnosis and test –

Physical exam

Blood test

Urine test

Imaging test

Treatment –

Surgery to remove the appendix

Draining an abscess before appendix surgery
