DESCRIPTION

Scabies is caused by the tiny mites that burrow into the skin. Scabies is an itchy skin rash caused by a tiny burrowing mite called Sarcoptes scabiei. Intense itching occurs in the area where the mite burrows. The need to scratch may be stronger at night.

Symptoms –

Itching

Tiny bumps and blisters

Skin rash

Risk factors –

It is reported that overcrowded living conditions, sleeping together, sharing of clothes, sharing of towels, poor hygiene practices, malnutrition and travel to scabies outbreak areas are common risk factors for scabies.

Diagnosis and test –

Scabies can be diagnosed by looking at your skin for symptoms of mites.

Treatment –

Treatment of scabies can be done by applying the medications to your whole body, from the neck down.
