DESCRIPTION

Psoriasis is a skin condition that cause flaky patches of skin from scales. On brown, black and white skin the patches can look pink or red, and the scales white or silvery. On brown and black skin patches can also look purple or dark brown, and the scales may look grey

Symptoms –

A patchy rash

Rashes that vary in color

Small scaling spots

Dry, cracked skin

Itching, burning or soreness

Cyclic rashes

Risk factors –

Family history

Smoking

Diagnosis and test –

Psoriasis can be diagnosed by physical exam of skin, scalp and nails. Biopsy can be done to determine the type of psoriasis

Treatment –

topical therapy

Light therapy

Oral or injected medications
