DESCRIPTION
An acoustic neuroma is a benign tumor that develops on the balance and hearing or auditory nerves leading from your inner ear to the brain, as shown in the top image. The pressure on the nerve from the tumor may cause hearing loss and imbalance.
Symptoms –
Hearing loss
Tinnitus in the affected ear
Loss or balance
Dizziness
Facial numbness
Loss of muscle movement
Risk factors –
Loud noises
Parathyroid neuroma
Exposure to low levels of radiation
