LIVER KIDNEY MICROSOME ANTIBODY TEST
DESCRIPTION – this test looks for a certain type of antibody in your child’s blood. The antibody is called liver kidney microsomal antibody. Having this antibody may mean that your child has liver damage caused by a form of hepatitis.
METHODOLOGY – semi-quantitative indirect fluorescent antibody
TURN AROUND TIME – 1-3 days
SPECIMEN REQUIERED –
COLLECT – serum separator tube
SPECIMEN PREPARATION – transfer 1 ml serum to transport tube
STORAGE /TRANSPORT TEMPERATURE – refrigerated
STABILITY – ambient: 48 hours; refrigerated: 2 weeks; frozen: 1 year
UNACCEPTABLE CONDITION – severely hemolyzed or lipemic specimens
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS – clinical history is mandatory
