AMOEBIC SEROLOGY IgG TEST
DESCRIPTION – amoebic serology, IgG, serum test helps differentiate liver cysts and pancreatic infection from amoebiasis or amoebic dysentery. Amoebic dysentery is a parasitic infection caused by amoeba, Entamoeba histolytica, in the colon.
METHODOLOGY – semi-quantitative enzyme linked immunosorbent assay
TURN AROUND TIME – 1-5 days
SPECIMEN REQUIERED –
COLLECT – serum separator tube
SPECIMEN PREPARATION – separate serum from cells within 2 hours of collection. Transfer 1 ml serum to transport tube
STORAGE/TRANSPORT TEMPERATURE – refrigerated
STABILITY – ambient: 48 hours; refrigerated: 2 weeks; frozen: 1 year
UNACCEPTABLE CONDITION – contaminated, heat-inactivated, hemolyzed or severely lipemic specimens
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS – clinical history is mandatory
